Green to Gold

From enlisted Soldier to commissioned Officer through Army ROTC

The Army Green to Gold program helps active-duty enlisted Soldiers earn a bachelor’s or master’s degree and commission as officers. All Green to Gold options, including the Hip Pocket Scholarship, are available to eligible Soldiers attending Trevecca.

What Is Green to Gold?

Green to Gold (G2G) is designed for current active-duty enlisted Soldiers who want to become Army Officers. Through the program you complete a degree, train as an ROTC cadet, and commission as a Second Lieutenant upon graduation.

Soldiers attending Trevecca participate through the local Army ROTC host battalion. Classes, labs, and training take place with the host program; academic credit transfers to Trevecca.

Program Options

Option 1

Scholarship Option

Leave active duty to attend college. Receive full tuition or room & board (capped), a flat-rate book payment, and a monthly stipend. Scholarships are typically awarded for 2–4 years depending on how much college you have already completed.

Option 2

Active Duty Option (ADO)

Remain on active duty and keep your current pay and allowances (up to a maximum period, commonly around 24 months) while completing your degree. This is usually a two-year program. You are responsible for tuition (most Soldiers use GI Bill benefits).

Option 3

Non-Scholarship Option

Leave active duty to attend college and receive the monthly ROTC stipend. You cover tuition and other costs (GI Bill is commonly used). Designed for Soldiers who can finish their degree in approximately two years.

Option 4

Hip Pocket Scholarship

Available to Trevecca students. Division Commander’s Hip Pocket Scholarship. Selected Soldiers are nominated by their chain of command to complete their baccalaureate degree and commission through the ROTC scholarship program while attending Trevecca.

Basic Eligibility (All Options)

Exact prerequisites and waiver policies change; always verify current requirements through official channels.

Available at Trevecca

All Green to Gold options—including the Division Commander’s Hip Pocket Scholarship, Scholarship Option, Active Duty Option, and Non-Scholarship Option—are available to eligible Soldiers who enroll at Trevecca. Trevecca is a partner school of the local Army ROTC host battalion. Partner-school cadets receive the same benefits, compete for the same scholarships, and train under the same cadre as host-school cadets.

Hip Pocket & nomination process: Selection for the Division Commander’s Hip Pocket Scholarship is driven by your current chain of command (Division-level nomination). Green to Gold is managed centrally by U.S. Army Cadet Command. Contact the host battalion enrollment officer early so they can guide you through the process and provide the required Professor of Military Science (PMS) acceptance letter.
