Basic Course (MS I & II)
Freshman and sophomore years. One elective class and lab each semester plus physical training and field training. You learn basic military skills and leadership fundamentals.

- Foundations of Leadership / Basic Leadership
- Leadership and Ethics / Advanced Leadership
- Army Doctrine and Decision Making / Tactics and Officership
Lateral-entry students can receive credit for the Basic Course by completing Basic Combat Training or Basic Camp.
Advanced Course (MS III & IV)
Junior and senior years. Advanced tactics, team organization, planning, and decision-making, plus required Advanced Camp.
- Training Management and Warfighting Functions / Small Unit Leadership
- Applied Leadership in Small Unit Operations
- The Army Officer / Leadership, Management, and Ethics
- Company Grade Leadership / Transition to Lieutenant
Leadership Labs & Field Training
Labs and Field Training Exercises (FTX) reinforce classroom learning with hands-on practice: land navigation, squad tactics, leadership reaction courses, and more. All required uniforms and equipment are provided free of charge.
Credit at Trevecca
Military Science credit transfers to Trevecca. Students who earn a minimum of 18 credit hours in military science courses may have the Trevecca minor requirement waived. Completing the program and a Trevecca bachelor’s degree leads to a commission as a Second Lieutenant.
