Military Science Courses

Leadership, tactics, and the skills to lead as an Army Officer

ROTC is divided into the Basic Course (freshman/sophomore) and Advanced Course (junior/senior). The Basic Course carries no military obligation.

Basic Course (MS I & II)

Freshman and sophomore years. One elective class and lab each semester plus physical training and field training. You learn basic military skills and leadership fundamentals.

Lateral-entry students can receive credit for the Basic Course by completing Basic Combat Training or Basic Camp.

Advanced Course (MS III & IV)

Junior and senior years. Advanced tactics, team organization, planning, and decision-making, plus required Advanced Camp.

Leadership Labs & Field Training

Labs and Field Training Exercises (FTX) reinforce classroom learning with hands-on practice: land navigation, squad tactics, leadership reaction courses, and more. All required uniforms and equipment are provided free of charge.

Credit at Trevecca

Military Science credit transfers to Trevecca. Students who earn a minimum of 18 credit hours in military science courses may have the Trevecca minor requirement waived. Completing the program and a Trevecca bachelor’s degree leads to a commission as a Second Lieutenant.
